College Cost Reduction & Access Act: effective today

Lower college loan rates start today. Yahoo! We all know the benefits of a college degree, now it becomes slightly affordable as federal legislation laws kicks in for the start of the new school year.

The College Cost Reduction and Access Act initiates lower interest rates on federal student loans. The maximum Pell Grant scholarship will increase and tuition incentives will be provided to prospective teachers in needy public schools.

SAT & Collegeboard change scoring parameters for better

Good news for everyone (except current High School Seniors) The College Board announced yesterday that starting in March 2009, SCORE choice will be back! Top 10 rules for selecting your college/university

1. Never make your final college selection without visiting at least your top two or three choices. No matter how well you think you know a college or university, you can learn a lot (good or bad) by spending a few hours on campus, including whether or not the college feels like a good "fit" for you. Having family members accompany you on college visits is a great idea because it gives you extra "eyes and ears" and people with whom you can discuss your impressions.

Ideas to Make the College Admission Process Easier

1) Apply to 6 to 8 colleges, minimum.
One of the things that we have found is that it does no good to apply to so few colleges that you don’t get admitted anywhere or admitted to only 1 or 2.

You don’t need to apply to 30 different colleges, and in fact, it can actually hurt you in the long run. But, the ideal amount is to apply to 6 to 8 colleges.
